Dubai is a contemporary melting pot of cultures, with an eclectic style that’s contributed to its global reputation as a fashion destination. Anna Bolton-Riley and Annabelle Fitzsimmons have cleverly brought all of this panache for design into one online marketplace: Little Majlis.
The pair, one from New Zealand and one from Australia, met in Dubai on separate business trips more than a decade ago. While in the region, they discovered a plethora of independent fashion brands, artisan products and locally-made items, but there was no one central place to find them – and so, Little Majlis was born. The idea was to build a creative community for small brands, Gulf-based designers and boutique shops, with the aim of encouraging local shopping and supporting local talent.
